Definition and Core Methodology.

The Talanta Finance methodology will enable Talanta loan Funds to reach the poorest clients possible to have transformational impact and become financially viable so that it can reach a large number of people within Uganda. The following core principles are taking into consideration for the success of the Talanta Finance model:

• Group formation.
• The Talanta Finance target low- income entrepreneurs who are poor but economically active and have sufficient business income to repay the loan, especially women.
• Individuals self-select the members that form the group.
• The group comprised of 5-15 members.
• The will groups democratically elect leaders.
• The Groups forms their own constitution to govern the group.
• The leaders oversee the whole group.

 

 

• Target group for the Talanta Finance.

The Talanta Finance methodology targets low- income entrepreneurs who are the poor but economically active and have sufficient business income to repay the loan, especially women. Therefore Talanta Finance funds assists people carry out their production of goods and services in makeshift premises or are engaged in small scale trading or retail activities.

Talanta Finance Ltd programme typically target women because they carry a disproportionate share of poverty. Women spend a greater proportion of their income on family needs. They also comprise the majority of those engaged in the informal sector of the economy worldwide. While the loan focuses on assisting women, men are not excluded from the Group membership
